History and Evolution:

Ujjain Engineering College, initially known as Govt. Engineering College, Ujjain, was established with the vision of producing qualified engineering graduates to contribute to the country's industrialization. Over the years, the institution has expanded its offerings, introducing branches such as Electronics Engineering (1985) and Chemical Engineering (1986). In the academic session 2001-2002, the B.E. Computer Science and Engineering course was also initiated.

Autonomous Governance:

The college was granted autonomy by the state government in 1998. Under this arrangement, it is governed by a dedicated Governing Body, chaired by the Minister of Technical Education and Skill Development Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh, with the college's principal serving as the secretary. This autonomous status has allowed the institution to maintain high academic standards and produce quality graduate engineers who have made significant contributions to various sectors of the industry.
